Uses: Painted light-gauge and heavy-gauge metal coils are used by manufacturers of metal components and custom building systems, and by manufacturers of other products, such as water heaters, lighting fixtures, ceiling grids, HVAC and appliances. When looking at market share, we are the largest coil coater of heavy gauge metal and the second largest coil coater of light gauge metal in North America.

Process: Metal coil coating consists of cleaning, treating and painting rolls (coils) of various flat metals as well as slitting and/or embossing the metal before it is made into other products.

Customers: We coat metal for external customers in a number of different industries as well as for our own metal components and building systems segments.

New initiatives: We are developing more third-party customers and upgrading our recently purchased coating facility in Middletown, OH, which is expected to begin operations by the beginning of calendar 2013. We are aggressively converting our customers to the use of pre-painted metal from a more costly and less environmentally-friendly post-painting process. We capture 99% of the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) resulting from our processes. Our corrective in-line leveling increase yield and customer satisfaction and our dried-in-place chrome-free pretreatment is ROHS compliant.

Manufacturing facilities: We currently operate five metal coil coating facilities located in five U.S.
states, with a sixth plant, in Middletown, OH scheduled to be in production in 2013. Two of our facilities coat hot-rolled, heavy-gauge metal coils and the three other facilities coat light-gauge metal coils. We
are the only metal coil coating company that can provide localized service to every major manufacturing region of the U.S.
